Our company was established and started its activities in Istanbul in 2005 when Turkey started negotiations for full membership to the European Union. The Free Movement of Goods, one of the first chapters discussed during the negotiations, became the reason for the establishment of our organization and still remains our main operation area. The purpose of this chapter is to make possible the free movement of industrial products and imported goods from third countries in the internal market by elimination of technical barriers. Achieving this goal requires the application of New Approach Directives and the involvement of Conformity Assessment Bodies. To meet this need in the best way possible, our company started its activities as the full and exclusive representative of Strojirensky Zkusebni Ustav s.p., a Czech notified body in 15 directives. Having acquired its own accreditation and notifications in 2007, SZUTEST is now accredited according to ISO/IEC 17020 as Inspection Body of Type A, ISO/IEC 17065 as Product Certification Body, ISO/IEC 17024 as Personnel Certification Body by TURKAK-Turkish Accreditation Agency and according to ISO/IEC 17021 as System Certification body by TURKAK-Turkish Accreditation Agency and International Accreditation Services-IAS. 2016/426/AB GAS APPLIANCES REGULATION2016/426/AB GAS APPLIANCES REGULATION
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The Gas Appliances Regulation 2016/426/EU (GAR) establishes the legal framework governing gas appliances in EU Member States. Its objective is to guarantee the safe and reliable circulation of gas appliances and equipment on the EU market. Purpose of the Regulation The Directive 2016/426/EU on Gas Appliances was created to ensure the safety, energy efficiency and environmental compatibility of gas appliances. This regulation replaces the Directive 2009/142/EC on Gas Appliances and provides a more modern regulatory framework. The regulation entered into force on 21 April 2018. The legal framework established by the GAR aims to provide access to the EU market for appliances and fittings as far as the gas safety of these products is concerned. The GAR also deals with the energy efficiency of the products covered in cases where more specific EU eco-design legislation does not apply. Third Party Conformity Assessment GAR always requires the involvement of third parties in the conformity assessment of products. The list of notified bodies notified by EU countries to carry out conformity assessments according to GAR can be searched on the NANDO website. Scope of the Regulation Directive 2016/426/EU covers the safety, performance and energy efficiency of gas-burning appliances and related equipment. The following products are considered within the scope of this regulation: Household Cooking Appliances Commercial Cooking Appliances Commercial Cooling Equipment Household and Commercial Kitchen Equipment Household Refrigerators Commercial Cooling Systems Luminous and Radiant Heaters Regulators and Gas Valves Application of LVD and EMC Directives Gas appliances that are considered within the scope of Directive 2016/426/EU must also comply with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (LVD) and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU (EMC). The requirements of these directives are aimed at ensuring the electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility of gas appliances. Differences between Directive 2016/426/EU and Directive 2009/142/EC The Directive 2016/426/EU on Gas Appliances updates the previous Directive 2009/142/EC on Gas Appliances, providing a more comprehensive and modern framework. The main differences are: Expansion of Scope: The new regulation covers a wider range of products and adapts to technological developments. Safety Requirements: The new regulation includes more stringent safety requirements and test protocols. Risk Analysis: Requires manufacturers to assess the potential risks of their products and take appropriate measures to minimise these risks. Harmonised Standards: Reference is made to more up-to-date and harmonised European standards. Risk Analysis and Safety Approach The new regulation requires manufacturers to conduct a comprehensive risk analysis before placing their products on the market. Risk analysis is a process that starts with the design of the product and covers the production, distribution and usage stages. The basic steps are: Hazard Identification: Potential hazards of the product are determined. Risk Assessment: The probability and impact of hazards are analyzed. Risk Reduction: Appropriate design changes and safety measures are implemented to minimize hazards. Documentation: All analyses and measures are recorded with appropriate documentation. Essential Requirements of the Regulation The essential requirements of the Directive 2016/426/EU on Gas Appliances are as follows: Safety and Performance: Appliances must provide a high level of safety and performance for users and other persons. Energy Efficiency: Appliances must use energy resources efficiently and minimize their environmental impact. Structural Durability: Appliances must be structurally durable and maintain their functionality under normal conditions of use. Information and Labeling: Appliances must be provided with user manuals and appropriate labeling. This information must ensure safe and correct use. Our Servi
